Hilary Hahn was born in Lexington, Virginia on November 27, 1979. In 1991, she made her debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.She had begun to play the violin one month before her fourth birthday.She has been interested in cross-genre collaboration, and has performed and toured with singer-songwriters Josh Ritter in 2007 and Tom Brosseau in 2005.When she was sixteen years old, she had begun her recording career and has fourteen albums, three DVDs, an Oscar-nominated movie soundtrack, an award- winning recording for children, and various compilations up to date.

In Hahn's official website, there is a section where she posts her "Potscard from the Road."This feature had originated during her visit to a class in New York.The class was told to send postcards from their travels for a geography project, and she had decided to participate as well.She had enjoyed the project so much that she had continued it on her own website.

The reason I enjoy her music and admire her skill as a violinists is because Hahn feels that everyone should get the chance to play and enjoy classical violin playing .It shouldn't matter if the person playing on stage was in jeans and a T-shirt, what matters is the quality of the music.
